StatusHD — com.statushd

Last updated: 7 October 2026 (the app reads our current WhatsApp number from statushd.in, and notes which link or ad it was installed from; the service's record of that code is listed below) — app version 3.1.1 (versionCode 57)

The app sends nothing about you anywhere.

Since version 3.1.0 the app holds the INTERNET permission for one thing only: reading our current WhatsApp number from https://statushd.in/app.json, a small public file that is the same for everyone, each time you open the app. That request carries nothing about you, your phone or your videos. The app never uploads a file and never contacts any other server. (Versions up to 3.0.9 had no INTERNET permission at all.)

What it does is hand your chosen video to WhatsApp, and WhatsApp sends it, under its own permissions, when you choose to send it.

What the app collects

Nothing about you. There is no account, no sign-in, no password, no e-mail address and no phone number. No analytics or crash-reporting service is used. No advertising identifier is read. Nothing is sold, shared for advertising, or used to build a profile of you.

Which link or ad brought the install. Once, on first launch, the app asks the Google Play app on your phone where it was installed from — for example a short code such as G1 from one of our links, or GADS for a Google ad. It keeps only that code, and adds it to the names of the videos you send us (for example StatusHD_c-G1_IMG_4702.MOV), so we can tell which of our ads work. It says nothing about who you are, and it reaches us only when you yourself send a video.

What the app does on your phone

The one-time setup: saving the service number

This belongs in this policy because it involves your phone's contacts and your phone number.

The first time you open StatusHD it asks you to save the service number (+91 90195 53799, as “StatusHD”) as a contact, and does not let you past that screen until you say you have.

This is not a sign-up and it creates no account. It exists because WhatsApp opens a chat directly only with a number it already knows: without it, sending a video lands on a list of your own contacts, and the service number is not in it.

What happens after you send it

If you send it to the StatusHD service number, it arrives as a WhatsApp message on a personal computer operated by Sumathi Enterprises in Mangalore, India, which is signed in to WhatsApp like any other linked device. There, the video is:

Two things to be aware of, and neither is softened.

That computer is a personal machine, not a data centre, and the person who operates it can open and watch any file on it while it is there.

And once a video has been sent through WhatsApp, a copy exists in that WhatsApp conversation and on Meta's servers. Removing it there is done inside WhatsApp, by deleting the message. Nothing on this page can do that for you.

What is kept afterwards

WhatWhyHow long
The WhatsApp message identifier of each video handled So the same video is never answered twice Indefinitely, capped at the most recent 50,000. It is an identifier, not the video, and it cannot be turned back into one
The name the conversation appears under, and how many videos were returned to it To count free-use limits, if they are switched on Until deleted on request
The name the conversation appears under, and how many videos it sent today The daily limit, which is on: one person may have 10 videos handled a day (subscribers are not limited), so one machine stays fair to everybody Today only. Each day replaces the one before
For a video that has been sent but not yet confirmed: the conversation name, the file name and the WhatsApp message identifier To check a few minutes later that the video actually arrived, and to tell you if it did not Until it is confirmed: normally about four minutes, at most 20 minutes while the service is running. If the computer is off, it waits until the computer is back
How long each job took, and the size of the file To tell people waiting in a queue roughly how long they will wait The most recent 200 jobs. No name, number or message is stored with them
The phone number of a person the owner puts on the whitelist, a name the owner gives it, and its plan (free trial or 30-day subscription) with start and end dates Only whitelisted numbers are served when whitelist-only is switched on, which it is. A number that sends a video for the first time is put on a free 1-day trial automatically Until the owner removes it
The phone number of each person who has had a free trial So a trial is given only once Kept after the person is removed from the whitelist; removed on request
The phone number of each conversation, read from WhatsApp's own contact-info panel on the service's account The whitelist is checked by number, so saving or renaming a contact changes nothing Until the owner deletes it; removed on request
The first link or ad code a person arrived with (such as G1, from the website's WhatsApp link or from the name of a file the app sent), with the conversation name, phone number and when So the owner can see which links and ads bring people Until the owner deletes it; removed on request
For a video ignored because its sender was not on the whitelist: the conversation name, how many were ignored, when, and the last file name So the owner can see who asked and allow them. The video itself is never downloaded The most recent 500 people; removed on request
The conversation name, file name and time of each recent delivery, and of the job in hand and the queue The owner's panel shows what the service is doing The most recent 50 deliveries; the job in hand and the queue until they change
The service's log, which names conversations and files as they are handled To find out what went wrong when something does On that computer; not deleted automatically
A nightly copy of the whitelist, plans, phone numbers, the ignored-senders list and the message identifiers above So the owner's settings survive a damaged file 14 days, then deleted automatically. A deletion made on request stays in these copies until they age out
For a video sent through Telegram (only people the owner has named): their name, WhatsApp number and the file name To deliver it to their own WhatsApp and tell them on Telegram how it went The video is deleted once delivered or failed; the record is kept
The video itself, and the optimised copy To do the work Deleted after delivery; after 48 hours if delivery failed

Who else sees it

Telegram carries two things. Alerts to the service operator, which can include a conversation's name or phone number (for example, when a new number starts a free trial). And, for the few people the operator has named, videos they choose to send through Telegram instead of WhatsApp.

Cloudflare carries the operator's own control panel to the operator, behind a login. The panel shows the records above (names, numbers, file names). Videos do not pass through it. One address, /health, is public and says only whether the service is working — no names, numbers or file names.

Nobody else. No data broker, no advertising network.

Permissions, and what each is for

PermissionUsed for
READ_MEDIA_VIDEO Optional. Only to list the videos on your phone so you can choose one. Declining it costs you nothing but the sorted list — the system photo picker works without it
READ_MEDIA_VISUAL_USER_SELECTED So you can grant access to individual videos instead of all of them
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 12L and older) The same thing, on older Android
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 9 and older) Declared but not currently used — it covered saving an optimised copy into Movies/StatusHD, which the app did when it encoded on the phone. Nothing calls that code any more, since the encoder was removed

INTERNET is declared only to read our current WhatsApp number from statushd.in/app.json, as described above. Google Play's install-referrer permission (BIND_GET_INSTALL_REFERRER_SERVICE) lets the app ask the Play app on your phone which link or ad it was installed from. There is no notification, location, contacts, camera or microphone permission. Saving the service number is done by your phone's Contacts app, which needs no permission from StatusHD.

Earlier versions of this page listed POST_NOTIFICATIONS and FOREGROUND_SERVICE; neither is declared any more.

Children

StatusHD is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect anything from them.

Removing your video

Videos are deleted from that computer automatically once delivered, so in normal use there is nothing left to remove. If you want anything held for your conversation deleted anyway — including the record that it was handled — ask on WhatsApp at the number below. See data deletion.

Changes

If what the app does changes, this page changes with it. The date at the top is the date it last did.
